The Forest of Sivens

Once owned by the Carmaux Colliery and Railway Company, who used wood from the forest to make railway sleepers in the mines, today you can still find oak and chestnut trees, lovely beech trees, hawthorn and some conifers.

Easy rambles for all the family from 2 to 8 km including a route lined with nesting boxes. Play area for children with a zipwire.
• A social and recreational role: The Forest of Sivens offers discovery and rambling trails, a permanent orienteering trail, as well as a reception area and recreational area.
• Wood production: the management of this area (maintenance of the woodlands and sales of wood) is designed to establish mature forests and is run in collaboration with the National Forestry Office, which oversees all forestry policy..
